So if you have gum disease, see if your Dr. Now I am pissed that my Dentist never prescribed it before. I asked if it possibly Sucralfate, and he said yes. He said my gums have never looked better. I got back from my QUARTERLY dental cleaning and my hygienist ask what I was doing differently as most of my chronic gingivitis has healed. I figured if I just swallowed the pill, all the ulcers would be missed. It dissolves like an aspirin, it kind of blooms in the mouth and then a viscous liquid. Because it is for esophogeal ulcers, I dissolve the pill in my mouth and swallow the dissolved pill down. Sucralfate is a pill that dissolves into a liquid bandage to cover and heal the ulcers. So for the ulcers, my GI put me on Protonix and Sucralfate. The colonoscopy that lead to the esophageal endoscopy found SEVEN non-malignant ulcers! The CT scans showed, in addition, lower lumbar compression. The liver is a little fatty (no surprise as I also type fat). This has resulted in the removal of a cancerous (nonmalignant, unspread) colon polyp and a subsequent second colonoscopy, endoscopy, abdominal echo gram and an abdominal and pelvic CT scans. It is odd, but ever since I became 65 and Medicare eligible, I have been obsessed with going to the doctor and being tested for anything my team wishes.
